Marketing Communications Manager UK - Seafood Certification Aquaculture
UK Based, Full time (Mon-Fri), Flexi time, remote working, circa £40,000-48,000 per annum varying dependent on location, experience and skills, plus comprehensive local benefits.
Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) https://asc-aqua.org/ is driving the world’s leading certification programme for responsibly farmed seafood and we are looking for a passionate Marketing Manager to join us in making a positive impact on our planet and people.
The aquaculture industry is growing strongly and is already supplying more than half of all seafood consumed worldwide, but this growing demand increases the environmental and social footprint associated with this expansion. The ASC certification and labelling programme incentivises improved farming practices by promoting the benefits of responsibly farmed seafood and encourages the industry towards achieving environmental sustainability and social responsibility.
We work across the globe with aquaculture producers, seafood processors, retail and foodservice companies, scientists, conservation groups and the public to make it very easy to recognize and buy farmed seafood that meets the highest environmental and social standards.
Overview
The UK is one of our key growth markets for ASC worldwide. In order to further drive success of our seafood certification programme in the UK, we are looking for a dynamic Marketing & Communications Manager that can combine strategic thinking with a “hands-on” approach.
This role will focus on increasing the public profile of the ASC certification and labelling programme, drive awareness of our label in the UK and to contribute to a growing trust in what ASC brings in making aquaculture more sustainable.
You will work in close collaboration with our UK partners such as retail, brands and NGOs and be part of a small team focused on our UK & Ireland regions. This team is embedded within our overall ASC European Market Development Team.
We work with a ‘Glocal’ model; part of the content is developed by the global team which can be adapted for local use, while you also develop local content to grab opportunities arising in your market.
Responsibilities
* Develop and action our strategic Marketing plan for the UK & Ireland to increase awareness, understanding and trust in the ASC programme.
* Develop consumer marketing campaigns and activations with partners such as retail, brands and NGOs. Lead on the coordination and execution of these, and act as the main point of contact for our partners’ marketing departments.
* Report on progress and success markers (KPIs) of consumer marketing campaigns and activations, to monitor their impact.
* Keep track of media channels and the wider communication landscape to understand opportunities to proactively position the ASC programme in these channels and use them for increasing our media coverage.
* Effectively manage and engage with external PR agencies, as and when required.
* Monitor emerging issues and steer issues management communications including development of Q&As and key messages to address areas of concern (in partnership with global teams and external agents)
* All general Marketing & Communications tasks needs locally ius support of regional growth and impact. This may also include event planning and attendance.
Skills
* Established experience in a similar regional Marketing & Communications role - preferably in an NGO or (sea)food/retail-related context (desirable not essential)
* Ability to develop, execute and manage consumer marketing and communication campaign concepts, toolkits and materials – in collaboration with partners (both B2B and B2C)
* Experience managing and partnering with external account management agents and various stakeholders
Profile
This role requires a proactive individual who can navigate challenges with creativity and determination while making a positive impact on both people and planet. We need someone who is;
* a confident Marketing & Communications expert in PR, media and influencer relations
* able to apply both strategic thinking and thoughtful execution / planning - to oversee the 'big picture' as well as grasp new / challenging ideas to transform them to an operational plan
* proactive and solution-oriented mindset with a 'hands-on' approach to make the plans 'come to life'
* great at building effective relationships with agencies, service providers and (commercial) partners,
* people-centred and has a consultative approach to business and work
* comfortable working in a remote setting, self-motivated and comfortable to work independently with a high degree of trust
