JOB OVERVIEW We take great pride in our buildings and grounds, and the maintenance team play a crucial part in this ensuring a safe, working, and high-quality environment for our students, staff and visitors. As a Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for the smooth, efficient and effective running of the maintenance team and school estate, using best practice principles to manage resources, services, and process to meet the needs of the school and the wider business. Our maintenance team carry out a variety of duties including repairs, routine maintenance, painting, basic plumbing and electrical works, cleaning, gardening and caretaking across the Worthgate School and School of English (Stafford House) buildings, boarding residences, and grounds on a day-to-day basis; ensuring these are completed to a high standard at all times. This role will report directly into the Operations Manager and plays a vital part in the overall Operations Team of the school which is made up of three departments: Cleaning, Catering and Maintenance. Please note, this is a 'hands-on' role and you will be required to assist the Maintenance Team in daily tasks. The shift pattern will involve working on a Monday-Friday basis 07:00/07:30 - 16:00 with occasional weekend work required. The role will involve an on-call duty for 1 week, every 1 in 5 weeks. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: General: Develop and implement a facility management program including preventative maintenance and life cycle requirements and ensure all statutory PPM s are completed to schedule, such as weekly fire alarm, legionella temperatures etc. Conduct and document regular facilities inspections. Line management of all maintenance and caretaking staff including holiday /sickness management processes, performance management, development and training as well as general participation within the Operations Department Ensure efficient utilisation of facility maintenance staff. Manage and be part of the On Call Rota to ensure 24/7 Site Maintenance cover. Supervise maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment and allocate Sysaid works accordingly, adhering to our commitment to fix issues within 24 hours. Maintenance tasks includes, but is not limited to: basic plumbing, electrical and carpentry works, painting and decorating, guttering cleaning and small repairs, unblocking sinks, drains and sanitary appliances, replacing lamps and fuses, meter reading, cleaning extractor fans, repairing door locks. Assure security of the school campus, including unlocking/locking up, and ensure timely response to facility and equipment alarms and system failures. Report and action any deliberate misuse and/or damage of the facilities and cost repairs according to damage reporting process. Plan and manage facility central services such as security, waste disposal, grounds, maintenance and have oversight of the catering department equipment maintenance schedules working collaboratively with the Catering Manager. Manage external areas by effectively delegating tasks such as sweeping, leaf blowing, weeding, salting during winter months, window cleaning and any other general garden duties. Health & Safety: Ensure compliance with all Health and Safety regulations, HSE guidance and CGS Policies Carry out regular Risk assessments according to the yearly plan, identify and update any according to business needs and updated legislation. Update Fire precaution measures to meet new legislation, training, induction, and monitoring standards. Ensure all company vehicles are maintained and serviced regularly and to ensure they are road worthy standard including, servicing, MOT S, Road Tax and Insurance where required. Coordinate and monitor activities of contract suppliers while onsite adhering to our Safeguarding Policy and check work upon completion. Cost/ Budget Management: Calculate and compare costs for goods and services to maximize cost-effectiveness. Negotiate, manage and review contracts and contractor/supplier relationships to optimize delivery and cost saving in collaboration with the Operations Manager and Central Functions, to ensure facility management needs are being met, including obtain quotes Oversee facility refurbishment and renovations within project costs. Ensure delivery schedules, quantity and quality criteria are met. Verify payment and invoicing match contract pricing. Prepare and track facility budgets/ Capex /Opex spends. Monitor expenses and payments of cards and accounts. Develop and implement best practice and cost reduction initiatives, to increase efficiencies within the department PERSON SPECIFICATION Essential: Supervisory experience Sound knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations Experience in construction, maintenance, and all facets of building operations. Facilities Management- Experience.
