Applications are invited from candidates with established experience to both supervise and perform lifting operations, equipment inspections and cargo handling duties. Reporting to the Quayside Operations Manager and with responsibility for Multi Skilled Operatives, the role will undertake the following duties:
* Creating lifting plans, identifying equipment, personnel requirements and ensuring individual and collective responsibilities are clearly communicated and understood in line with operating procedures and legislation.
* Ensuring the safe and correct use of PPE, forklifts and lifting equipment.
* Counting and verifying ROB cargo, ensuring that re-stowing cargo is recorded on the appropriate system.
* Reviewing the performance and development of OPITO Stage 1 personnel.
* Conducting yard and gantry inspection duties, as required.
* Assuming the role of Quayside Supervisor in their absence.
* Continuously promoting a pro-active HSEQ culture, ensuring participation and compliance.
* Motivating the team to achieve the highest standards of safety, operational performance and service delivery.
Effective leadership/people management and interpersonal skills, both verbal and in writing.
* Accustomed to working effectively in a fast-paced environment, adapting to changing workloads and priorities, where high standards are not compromised under pressure.
* Solutions based with strong analytical, planning and organising skills, and an excellent attention to detail.
* Ability to work stand-alone while a positive contributor to the wider team.
* Numerate and computer literate with well developed IT skills across the Microsoft suite.
