Your new role
* The successful candidate will provide timely, high quality commercial legal advice to the platform and financial advice businesses and central functions.
* You will have the opportunity to get involved in a wide breadth of commercial matters both contentious and non-contentious.
* Whilst needing to be able to support any area covered by the legal team, commercial contract delivery will be a key focus of the role. This work will include contracts relating to the procurement of technology and services from suppliers, working closely with the Procurement team, and contracts with financial advisers, working closely with the relevant business contract management teams.
* Supporting the Deputy Head of Legal on corporate transactions, such as acquisitions and disposals, as required.
* Assisting the Head of Legal in relation to customer complaints and disputes as required.
* General commercial legal advice on any matter impacting the business.
* Sourcing and managing cost-effective external legal advice where required to protect business interests.
* Provision of specialist advice and guidance on relevant legal updates and legislative developments.
* Reporting effectively on legal issues and risk exposure and escalating actions as appropriate (under the Legal Risk Policy) and generally minimising exposure to litigation, risk and associated costs.
* Promoting the operational efficiency of the Legal team.
What you'll need to succeed
Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with 1–5 years PQE.
Strong commercial contract experience including procurement contracts, IT contracts, supply agreements, etc.
Candidate with dispute or commercial litigation experience would be desirable.
Excellent communication skills, able to provide legal advice to different stakeholders at different levels, and also instruct external counsel.
Teamwork skills and the ability to manage diversified caseloads, prioritising tasks to improve efficiency.
Must be able to be in the Southampton office at least 2 days a week.
