Job Title: M and E Engineer (Pump Upgrades)
Location: Norfolk (Specific site location to be determined)
The Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced M and E Engineer to join our team and contribute to the successful delivery of a pump upgrade project at a water treatment facility in Norfolk. You will play a key role in all aspects of the project, from design and installation to commissioning and handover.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and Engineering:
* Contribute to the design and specification of mechanical and electrical systems for the pump upgrade project, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
* Review technical drawings and specifications for accuracy and completeness.
* Assist in the development of technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, and reports.
* Installation and Commissioning:
* Oversee the installation and commissioning of new pumps, motors, controls, and associated equipment.
* Ensure that installations are carried out safely and according to project specifications.
* Conduct commissioning tests and troubleshooting to ensure proper functionality.
* Project Management:
* Assist the project manager in planning, scheduling, and managing the M and E scope of the project.
* Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation plans.
* Monitor progress and identify potential risks or issues related to M and E works.
* Safety and Compliance:
* Adhere strictly to all safety regulations and procedures, including working in confined spaces, wearing personal protective equipment, and following company safety protocols.
* Ensure all work is performed in a safe and compliant manner.
* Contribute to the implementation of a strong safety culture on site.
* Collaboration:
* Work effectively with other project team members, including engineers, construction managers, subcontractors, and client representatives.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
* Essential:
* Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field.
* Minimum of 3 years of experience in M and E design, installation, and commissioning, ideally within the water treatment or infrastructure sector.
* Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, including pumps, motors, control systems, and instrumentation.
* Familiarity with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations (e.g., IET Wiring Regulations, BS 7671, ASME).
* Experience with construction documentation, drawings, and specifications.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
* Desirable:
* Experience working on pump upgrade projects or other water treatment facility improvements.
* Knowledge of SCADA systems and control systems used in water treatment plants.
* Experience with project management methodologies (e.g., PRINCE2, Agile).
* Familiarity with BAM Nuttalls project management processes.
