Be Personnel are keen to hear from candidates interested in our new vacancy, a Financial Controller working for our client, an employee-owned seafood manufacturer. This role reports into the Finance Manager whilst supervising a team of 3, and entails a variety of responsibilities including:
The Responsibilities:
1. Manage, support and develop the finance team
2. Develop and maintain the finance standard operating procedures and internal controls
3. Work with the Leadership Team and department heads to create, maintain and report on key financial (and non-financial) indicators
4. Oversee the update and maintenance of standard costs
5. Manage accounting software and integration with other systems
6. Oversee processing of routine transactional data, including:
1. Sales and purchase invoices
2. Bank transactions
3. Petty cash
4. Accruals, prepayment and other standard journals
7. Control bank accounts and manage payments and receipts
8. Maintain operational cashflow forecast
9. Review and present weekly finance reports
10. Prepare and maintain a full set of balance sheet and P&L monthly reconciliations
11. Prepare and report monthly management accounts
12. Prepare external reports for bank and other stakeholders
13. Prepare trend and variance analysis and provide detail to budget holder
14. Prepare year-end accounts and audit schedules
15. Work with the Leadership Team to help build the annual Business Plan and any supplementary forecasts
16. Prepare and submit all statutory returns, including:
1. HMRC Vat returns
2. HMRC PAYE and National Insurance
3. Office of National Statistics
17. Manage relationship with bank, auditors and other key stakeholders
18. Build and maintain strong links with the Leadership Team and departmental heads
19. Deputise for the Head of Finance and represent finance at cross-functional meetings when required
20. Work collaboratively with other group companies, as required
21. Other typical finance responsibilities linked to good corporate governance
The ideal candidate:
1. Professional accountancy qualification (CA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
2. Minimum 2 years of industry experience.
3. Proven experience in a finance management role, with strong leadership and team development skills.
4. Experience in the food or manufacturing/FMCG sector.
5. Knowledge of financial systems and process improvements.
