We are seeking to appoint an Engineering Workshop Fitter to join the team at a busy branch in Hixon, Stafford.
Reporting to the Workshop Manager, this hands-on role involves servicing, repairing, and maintaining a fleet of diesel pumps and a range of ancillary equipment to the highest standards.
You will work within a stable & dynamic team focusing on preventative maintenance, fault diagnosis, and ensuring equipment is ready to meet the needs of clients across various industries.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Inspect returned pump rental equipment, carry out repairs, and complete fault diagnosis as required.
2. Perform preventative maintenance to optimise equipment operation and minimise downtime.
3. Conduct regular servicing of pump rental fleet equipment, adhering to manufacturer specifications.
4. Document and report equipment damage, recurring problems, and repair progress to the Line Manager.
5. Identify opportunities for modifications and process improvements to enhance equipment performance.
6. Follow all Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations, including the correct use of PPE.
7. Interpret and apply technical instructions and guidelines provided by the Line Manager.
8. Communicate job requirements effectively with internal contacts, including spares and downtime updates.
9. Maintain accurate records on provided tablets, ensuring timely submission of completed tasks.
10. Occasionally cover Mobile Fitter responsibilities during periods of absence.
11. Promote the company professionally, maintaining a customer-focused approach.
12. Keep work areas clean and tidy, reporting defects in tools or equipment.
13. Provide flexible support, including occasional overtime during evenings and weekends.
Skills & Experience Required:
1. Previous experience working with diesel engines or industrial pumps in a workshop or field based environment.
2. Strong diagnostic skills with the ability to identify and resolve faults efficiently on mechanical systems.
3. Proficient in using diagnostic equipment and standard hand and power tools.
4. Excellent mechanical aptitude and attention to detail, delivering high-quality workmanship.
5. Qualified to NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in a mechanical discipline, ideally automotive engineering/ fitting.
6. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
7. Full UK driving licence, with the flexibility to travel for the role as needed.
