Position: Head of Logistics
Reports to: Engineering & Performance Director
Role Overview: Based at our Tallington site the Head of Logistics will control logistics across all our sites and to develop one process across the group for an outbound freight strategy using CRH best practices and technologies. The ideal candidate will drive the strategic vision for logistics for the regions while expanding and building strong relationships with key stakeholders such as the Product Innovation and Commercial teams, Operations, Sustainability and Safety teams, IT teams, Distributors, Suppliers, 3PLs (third party logistics) & Freight forwarding. This leadership role will lead cross-functional and solutions to support regional/country growth, improve stakeholder satisfaction, and reduce costs by implementing an outbound freight strategy which meets customer requirements and demands across IPE. The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:
Key Accountabilities:
* Service other departments and key stakeholders within the European organisation to enable our customers’ needs to be fulfilled.
* Manage all aspects of an outbound freight strategy across several key businesses & countries.
* Develop a singular approach to the logistics process and standardisation across IPE.
* Scaling logistics to meet IPE growth demands.
* Develop and maintain department cost budgets and estimates for the calendar year.
* Maintain metrics and analyse data to assess performance and implement improvements.
* Implementing effective rate card commercial strategies.
* Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers by monitoring and evaluating their performance against agreed contract terms, alongside negotiating contracts with suppliers.
* Liaising with key internal and external stakeholders across all IPE sites, as appropriate.
* Manage and develop the logistics team with a One CRH approach.
* Develop relationships within CRH to promote a One CRH approach.
* Enhance the logistics capability of the business, identify key risks, and mitigate such risks.
* Lead change within the business, from alternative hauliers to adopting new technologies.
* Ensure all quality, regulatory and compliance measures are met within global guidelines.
Experience and Training:
* Experience of working in a fast-paced logistics environment.
* Experience with international trade, especially related to Brexit matters.
* Experience managing a logistics team showing financial acumen.
Essential Criteria:
* Bachelor’s degree in in Business Management, Supply Chain or Logistics; a master’s degree or MBA is a plus.
* Proven experience in a senior logistics role in a multi jurisdiction manufacturing environment.
* Proven ability to build out bound freight strategy across various countries.
* History of meeting approved budgets and saving targets.
