Job purpose: To increase guest satisfaction by providing prompt, efficient, trouble-free and courteous food and beverage service connected with meeting and greeting guests, taking orders, serving food and beverages and ensuring guests receive a four-star Roe Park Resort experience”.

About The Role
PROVIDE EFFICIENT, PROMPT, TROUBLEFREE, AND COURTEOUS SERVICE
* To ensure that the service is at all times performed in a professional manner and to the style as specified by the Restaurant Manager/Supervisor.
* To be fully conversant with every menu item and to provide explanations as requested and promote additional sales accordingly
* To ensure that all guests’ wishes are met so far as is reasonably possible.
* Provides efficient, prompt, trouble free and courteous service by bussing, serving and setting tables
* To communicate with other staff and departments
* Accurately records, pre-checks and picks up all food and beverage orders
* Serves guests their food and beverage promptly and courteously
* Sets tables as needed prior to guest arrival
* Ensures that the working area and station are stocked with “mise-en-place” and kept clean and tidy at all times
* Ensures the smooth running of the assigned station at all times
* Promotes additional sales by taking opportunities to up-sell, in manner that is professional and courteous
* Is familiar with all equipment relating to the Restaurant
* Makes clear orders to kitchen production and bar regarding beverages, register orders according to hotel procedures
* Confers with the Restaurant Manager/Supervisor concerning set-ups and last-minute changes.
* Checks the restaurant reservations list frequently during the shift
* To report all comments/complaints/problems to the Restaurant Manager/Supervisor
* Provide service of food and beverage to guests at weddings, functions, private dinners etc
KNOWLEDGE OF RESTAURANT PRODUCTS, TECHNOLOGY AND EQUIPMENT
* Is fully conversant with the Restaurant POS (point of sale) system
* Is able to operate credit card machines and other key equipment
* Has a good understanding of all items contained within the menus and wine lists
* Has a knowledge of the products the Hotel itself has to offer
SECURITY, HYGIENE, HEALTH & SAFETY
* Acknowledge HACCP (Hazard analysis and critical control points)
* Responsible for cleanliness of all items and equipment in your work area
* Adheres to HOTEL policy on grooming, dress code, personal hygiene, body language and conduct
* Full understanding of cash handling procedures
* Reports any suspicious behaviour of guests and staff to the Manager and security
* Ensures that all discrepancies in cash are reported to the Manager/Supervisor
* Maintains high confidentiality in regard to guest privacy
* Notifies Manager regarding lost and found property
* Ensures that all potential and real hazards are reported immediately
* Fully understand the Hotel’s fire, emergency, and bomb procedures
* Works in a safe manner that does not harm or injure self or others
* Supports a safe working environment by applying the Hotel’s regulations and adhering to existing laws and regulations
MISCELLANEOUS
* Assists the Restaurant Manager or Supervisor when requested
* Attends meetings and training sessions as required by the Restaurant Manager or Hotel
* Accepts flexible work schedule required for restaurant and hotel operations
* Ability to come to work regularly and on time, to follow directions, to take criticism, to get along with co-workers/supervisors/managers to treat co-workers, supervisors/managers and members/guests with respect and courtesy, and to refrain from abusive, insubordinate and /or violent behaviour
* Respect hotel property and that of guests and fellow employees
* Maintains the highest standard of personal hygiene, dress, uniform, appearance, body language and conduct
* Assists other departments when required
* May be required to carry out additional duties not listed to suit the business demands.
* Continuously seeks to endeavour professionalism in own job function
* Knows:
o Hotel fire, bomb and emergency procedures
o Hotel health and safety policies and procedures
o Hotel facilities and nearby sights of interest and importance (ie hospitals, stations, tourist sights)
o Hotel and corporate marketing and promotional programs
o Corporate clients and clients generating high business volume

Desired Criteria
* Positive sales attitude
* Food Handlers Certificate
* First Aid Certificate
* Must have one year’s previous experience working in a public facing position, preferably bars, restaurants etc
* Experience of cash handling
* Can operate computerised Cash Register
