Job Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic Healthcare professional with extensive experience who can understand the changing services of pathology and represent the Cellular pathology service going forward. As Deputy Cellular Pathology Laboratory Manager you will oversee the day-to-day management and development of the histology service primarily based on the Royal Bournemouth hospital site.
The post holder will advise the service lead on service improvement, manage highly specialist investigations and be responsible for the standard and quality of results for the service. The post holder will also provide expert advice, coordinate training of the Histology / Cytology Biomedical Scientists, maintain and promote the professional image of the Pathology department.
The post holder must be HCPC registered, qualified to MSc level or equivalent, with extensive experience working as either a band 7 and/or band 8a level Senior BMS/Laboratory Manager and have highly developed specialist knowledge and skills from working in Cellular Pathology. You will also need to have well developed communication, teamwork, effective staff management and leadership skills. You will need to be highly organised and have experience of Quality Management Systems and change management.

An ability to recognise and implement quality, efficiency and productivity opportunities to enable service change and development, together with an experience of financial /budgetary management would also be desirable for this role.
The Dorset pathology services are currently under reconfiguration to a Hub laboratory positioned at Bournemouth with 2 aligned and extended Essential Service Laboratories at Poole Hospital and Dorset County Hospital. The Hub will be housed in a new purpose-built facility which will be completed July 2023. We are in advanced stages of implementing Digital Pathology, we have implemented a new laboratory information management system (CliniSys Winpath Enterprise) across the county, and we are completing a total equipment refresh under a new Managed Equipment Service.
Base Location: Royal Bournemouth or Poole Hospital, please note you will be required to work across site.
