Salary: Offering up to £36,840 per annum depending on your level of experience plus standby rota payments & overtime opportunities can increase this earning potential by up to a further £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.
About the role:
We have an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Technician to join our Maintenance team at Beddington Sewage Treatment Works (STW). As the successful candidate, your role will be to ensure that all equipment at our waste treatment works is running safely and efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods.
This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference to Thames Water's environmental impact and you will be actively helping to reduce pollution from our sites.
What you’ll be doing as the Mechanical Technician:
* Investigate plant failures and perform repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process.
* Provide technical advice, refer to up-to-date technical knowledge, and offer training or support for technical trainees if required.
* Work on equipment including motors, gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, and associated control gear.
* Complete statutory checks as required.
* Work safely and comply with all health and safety guidance and procedures.
What you should bring to the role:
* NVQ level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical engineering qualification.
* A valid driving license is essential.
* Previous experience in an electrical apprenticeship with an 18th Edition qualification is ideal but not essential.
* Physical fitness for working in confined spaces.
* Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are crucial.
* Experience in electrical systems, ideally in a “true multi-skilled” capacity.
* Participation in a 24/7 out-of-hours standby rota after training and assessment.
