One of my local government clients is currently recruiting an experienced M&E Contracts Manager (Building Services and Maintenance) on a temporary basis. This is a minimum 3-month contract with the possibility of extension, working Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The role offers hybrid working; however, attendance at the office 2-3 times a week is required.
Overview:
* We are seeking a Mechanical & Electrical Contracts Manager to join our newly formed Compliance service within Building Services of the Housing, Neighbourhood and Building Services Directorate.
* The role involves managing strategic Term Service Contracts related to mechanical and electrical repair, servicing, and compliance activities. This includes responsibility for the Gas Servicing and Repairs contract for our HRA stock of 17,000 dwellings, and mechanical and electrical repairs, servicing, and compliance contracts for our corporate assets with Landlord repair responsibilities.
* The Contracts Manager will oversee all mechanical and electrical servicing and repair contracts, ensuring proper procurement, management, high service quality, value for money, and continuous service improvement.
* Additionally, the role involves ensuring policies and procedures are in place and implemented to meet statutory responsibilities, safeguarding the safety of residents, staff, the public, and buildings.
Responsibilities:
* Manage Term Service Contracts for gas servicing and repairs in HRA dwellings and mechanical & electrical repairs for commercial properties.
* Ensure compliance with statutory duties across relevant service areas.
* Manage and develop staff responsible for compliance activities and strategic repair contracts.
* Strive for 100% compliance and collaborate with other service areas to address issues such as difficult access.
* Ensure accurate, robust compliance documentation and certification is maintained and stored appropriately.
* Manage service budgets (~£10 million per annum) efficiently to deliver value for money.
* Develop, implement, monitor, and review policies and procedures related to compliance activities.
* Stay updated on legislative changes and industry standards to ensure statutory duties are met, maintaining safety for residents, staff, and the public.
