Main duties of the job
The successful post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary primary healthcare team (MDT) delivering primary healthcare nursing including elements of occupational health. The practice is networked with Pirbright, and the post holder may on occasion be required to work out of this site.
The post holder will work with the Senior Practice Nurse or Senior Medical Officer within the medical facility (MF).
Depending upon qualifications and experience, the post holder will be responsible for the delivery of appropriate assessment treatment, screening, and advice to patients within their professional competence and in accordance with Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) clinical guidelines and protocols.
Job responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities for the role include but are not limited to:
* Providing high-quality person-centred care which always considers people's safety, privacy, and dignity using advanced clinical knowledge that is evidence-based.
* Monitoring and improving standards through supervision, evidence-based practice, clinical audit, research, and education.
* Acting as a role model, delivering high quality practice and promoting clinical effectiveness in care.
* Undertaking training and clinical supervision responsibilities for Healthcare Assistants (HCAs) and Military Medics.
* Working within the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code of Professional Conduct and adhering to all NMC standards and Ministry of Defence (MOD)/DPHC policies and guidelines.
* Supporting the care of patients with chronic illnesses e.g., Asthma, Diabetes, Coronary Heart Disease (CHD), and Hypertension ensuring continued maintenance of the Chronic Disease Register.

Person Specification

Qualifications
* Degree, diploma or appropriate training as recognised by a professional body such as UK NMC or HCPC.
* Hold Basic Life Support (BLS), Anaphylaxis, Automated External Defibrillation (AED), Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), and Safeguarding Level 3 (Children and Adult).
* Willingness to undertake specific training to fulfil competency for the role (e.g., audiometry, ear care, minor illness/injury, physical assessment and history taking, travel health) and Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) training as appropriate.
Salary
£29,970 to £36,483 a year Per Annum. Pro Rata for Part Time
