Here at MJ Quinn, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a High Voltage Engineering Supervisor to join our business.
About the role
As a High Voltage Engineering Supervisor, you will play a critical role in the design, analysis, construction, commissioning and maintenance of high-voltage electrical systems and equipment. Leveraging your expertise in electrical engineering and high-voltage technologies, you will contribute to the development of safe, efficient, and reliable solutions to meet the needs of our clients.
Responsibilities and Requirements:
* Design and analyse high-voltage electrical systems, including transmission lines, substations, and distribution networks, to meet project requirements and regulatory standards.
* Perform load flow, short circuit, and transient stability studies using specialised software tools to optimise system performance and reliability.
* Develop detailed engineering designs, drawings, and specifications for high-voltage equipment and components.
* Evaluate and select high-voltage equipment, such as circuit breakers, transformers, and switchgear, based on technical requirements, performance criteria, and cost considerations.
* Develop testing procedures and protocols for high-voltage equipment and systems, ensuring compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
* Ensure that high-voltage designs and installations comply with all relevant safety codes, standards, and regulations, including NFPA, IEEE, and OSHA requirements.
* Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential safety hazards and mitigate associated risks.
* Recognised qualification in Electrical Engineering.
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in high-voltage engineering, with a focus on design, analysis, and testing of electrical systems and equipment.
* Strong technical knowledge of high-voltage principles, including power system analysis, equipment selection, and testing methodologies.
* Proficiency in appropriate engineering software tools.
* Familiarity with industry standards and codes, including ANSI, IEC, and NEC.
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
* Effective communication and collaboration abilities, with the capacity to work both independently and as part of a team.
* Professional engineering (PE) licence preferred.
