Job overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join the Redbridge autism assessment team. We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to be part of our team and contribute to the future of our service.
Main duties of the job
1. Contribute to the provision of Speech and Language Therapy and autism assessment in Redbridge.
2. Contribute to multi-disciplinary team working to ensure co-ordinated service provision.
3. Administer comprehensive formal and informal assessments and make differential diagnoses on the basis of assessment findings.
4. Develop and deliver evidence-based intervention programmes, adapting and facilitating therapy according to client-centred needs.
5. Independently organise, plan and prioritise your workload and caseload.
6. Provide specialist knowledge, advice, training and teaching to parents/carers, education staff, multidisciplinary team members and other colleagues.
7. Attend relevant training courses, meetings and Clinical Excellence Networks (CENs) related to autism.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes.
Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
High Cost Area Supplement - London
This post attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,551 and a maximum payment of £5,735 per annum pro rata).
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post will include working as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide a comprehensive autism assessment for children and young people.
The post will also include working with the Speech and Language Therapy team, delivering high-quality Speech and Language Therapy assessments and interventions with autistic children/young people and their families.
You will join a supportive team environment and be provided with robust personal development opportunities. For example, you could attend ADOS-2 training.

Experience
* Experience working with autistic children/children with differences in their social communication and interaction skills

* Previous NHS experience

* Excellent written and verbal presentation skills
* ADOS-2 trained
