Our Team
The Court of Protection is the judicial body responsible for making decisions relating to the management of finances and other affairs of those individuals who lack the mental capacity to do so themselves. As one of the UK’s leading firms of solicitors, we have a dedicated and experienced team who specialise in all matters relating to the Court of Protection. You’ll join Partner Joanne Fraser who specialises in Court of Protection matters, often dealing with the family or legal advisors of the client who has lost the mental capacity to manage their property and affairs. Joanne’s clients have often, but not always, been awarded a substantial personal injury compensation award and she will then assist in the management of those damages in the best interests of the client. Her work involves dealing with deputyship applications, offering a professional deputyship service, applications including gifts and statutory wills. Joanne also deals with Lasting Power of Attorneys, personal injury trusts and trusts for infants. This is ideally a Leeds based role; we’re keen to accommodate what’s best for you, so we can be flexible on location however there will be a need to visit the Leeds office regularly in the future.
Your Role
You’ll provide quality legal advice to the firm’s clients by appropriate supervision and training and managing your very own caseload from the offset. You’ll aim to provide clients with expert legal advice and help them with all financial management matters, from planning and investments, to tax returns and accounting. As a team, we are dedicated to improving the quality of life of our clients.
Your role will involve:
* Take instructions from clients and give legal advice.
* Opportunity to manage own caseload, while also assisting the Partners and senior team members on High Value cases.
* Review cases and other relevant matters with supervisor to ensure quality legal advice is provided.
About You
* NQ-3 years PQE, with a Court of Protection background
* Highly organised
* Commercial awareness
* Ability to work collaboratively and independently
* Ability to work in a pressurised environment
