Job overview
The Trust is recruiting a senior technical architect to design, implement, review and deliver digital solutions in line with the Trust’s digital strategy.
The Trust aims to utilise more of its cloud platform within Azure. This senior role will help inform technical architectural decisions around setup, high availability, performance and suitability. You would be expected to lead implementation projects and follow best practices wherever possible.
This role will join a Cloud Architecture team within Digital and Data Services, responsible for all aspects of the Trust's Cloud tenant and its on-premise infrastructure estate.
This role will be based in the recently refurbished Seaton Delaval offices, benefiting from a part at home and part in the office working pattern, to ensure priorities, objectives and team culture are achieved and maintained.
Main duties of the job
Reporting to the Lead Technical Architect, you will have a Trust-level responsibility for the infrastructure implementation, availability and development of servers, cloud and end user compute architecture.
* Lead large digital infrastructure projects through the stages of inception to completion.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Design, document, implement and peer-approve the architecture setup for the Trust's server infrastructure, cloud infrastructure, systems, and end user compute infrastructure.
Use high levels of expertise to research and plan the required technical solutions, in line with the Trust's digital strategy, and implement to published and Trust guided best practices.
Diagnose, investigate, plan and implement infrastructure projects to improve uptime, system availability and resilience.
Trust-wide responsibility for outage escalations across on-premise infrastructure, cloud-based infrastructure, servers and end-user compute technology.
Work closely across other teams throughout the Trust to ensure any project work and infrastructure changes are in the interest of all parties and in accordance with IG, clinical safety and security procedures.
Oversee and propose benefits realized and objective-based outcome results assessments, create business cases and input into other department needs papers for operational boards.
Trust-wide responsibility for defining the overall technical structure/reprovision of new, refreshed or upgraded, and current systems platform architecture.
Be responsible for proactively researching, planning and reviewing new and current system structures used at the Trust.
Use up-to-date knowledge of IT infrastructure to identify opportunities to use emerging technology to increase efficiency, reliability and flexibility across the entire technical estate.
Participate and be an SME on critical incidents where infrastructure could be a factor or impacted.
Work with and lead supplier engagements where liaison is required, along with technical supplier management and escalation.
Ensure high availability, security and usability of the infrastructure in place that is transparent to users and ensure Service Level Agreements are in place.
Be part of the CITI 24/7 365 best endeavours callout rota for emergencies related to digital system downtime.
Be a member of the digital services call-out rota within the skills discipline.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Educated to degree level or equivalent experience plus additional in-depth specialist knowledge and expertise in IM&T, project management procedures and techniques.
Experience
* Extensive and strong end-to-end troubleshooting skills for system networks and applications.
* Implementation experience of cloud solutions within Azure.
* Knowledge of or experience in coaching and mentoring practices and tools.
* Knowledge of or experience in quality improvement tools, techniques and methods.
