We are looking for a Part time Receptionist to work with us at the practice.
We require a Medical Receptionist Care Navigator with initiative, drive, strong interpersonal, admin and IT skills.
Previous reception/admin and/or customer services skills are desirable. Join our happy and dedicated team providing quality care to a diverse population.
You will need to be a good communicator, fluent in English, written and spoken, with excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; especially under pressure.
You will have a range of patient facing and administrative tasks, so excellent organisational skills and time management are critical. A caring, empathetic character is essential.
Experience of using Emis Web and working in a GP practice is preferred.
Main Duties of the Job
Job Responsibilities:
1. Answering telephone calls and dealing with face-to-face enquiries.
2. Politely greeting patients and visitors to the surgery.
3. Scheduling appointments for patients.
4. Dealing with all requests in an efficient and courteous manner.
5. Screening enquiries for the doctors and medical staff.
6. Registering new patients at the surgery.
7. Explaining the practice procedures to new patients.
8. Accurately collecting information and personal details about patients.
9. Updating clinical system with appointments and personal details.
10. Receiving urine and blood samples and sending them off to hospital laboratories.
11. Arranging prescriptions for patients.
12. Maintaining a clean reception and waiting area to show a professional image.
13. Opening post and forwarding it onto the relevant parties.
14. Opening and locking up the surgery.
15. Covering colleagues during times of annual leave.
16. Ensuring building security with thorough knowledge of doors/windows/alarm.
17. Keeping the reception area and waiting area, notice boards and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions and clutter.
18. Having a thorough knowledge of all our Practice Policies and Procedures.
19. Working in accordance with our Practice protocols.
20. Maintaining a computerised medical database.
21. Receiving deliveries into the practice and processing the relevant accompanying paperwork.
22. Adhering to the practice protocol for incoming and outgoing petty cash.

About Us
St James Practice is looking for an experienced and well-rounded Care Navigator to join our friendly and innovative GP Practice. We are located in Beckenham and deliver care to over 7,000 patients, achieving high QOF performance and maintaining a Good CQC-rated service.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, reliable, motivated and caring Receptionist who enjoys helping patients in a general practice setting. We offer NHS Pension and standard annual leave. The receptionist will be contracted to 10 hours per week which would consist of one morning session (08:00 - 13:00) and one afternoon session (13:00 - 18:30). The days these will be Thursdays and Fridays.
We are looking for a good team player. A good time keeper will be helpful in this role as staff do shifts and appreciate being relieved on time. This role will suit a candidate that is looking for a few hours job.

Job Responsibilities
Primary Key Responsibilities:
1. Process and effectively signpost patients to the appropriate healthcare professional, depending on the presenting condition.
2. Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the caller's request appropriately.
3. Maintain and monitor all online requests/Econsults are actioned in a timely manner.
4. Initiate contact with and respond to requests from patients, team members and external agencies.
5. Clinically code data on Emis Web System accurately.
6. Patient registration, deductions, Iron Mountain tasks.
7. Input data into patients' healthcare records as necessary.
8. Direct requests for information, i.e., SAR, insurance/solicitors letters and DVLA forms to the administrative team.
9. Manage all queries as necessary in an efficient manner.
10. Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times.
11. Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards.
12. Support Care Navigators/Administrators, providing cover during staff absences.
13. Scan patient-related documentation and attach scanned documents to patients' healthcare records and code accurately.
14. Complete opening and closing procedures in accordance with the duty rota.
15. Produce, maintain and participate in the Care Navigators rota.
16. Undertake all mandatory training and induction programmes, ensuring all mandatory training is maintained and up to date.
17. Support the Patient Participation Group related matters.
18. Support the health promotion lead and display promotional material on the allocated notice boards and in the waiting room.
19. Attend a formal appraisal with their manager at least every 12 months. Once a performance/training objective has been set, progress will be reviewed on a regular basis so that new objectives can be agreed.
20. Contribute to public health campaigns (e.g., flu clinics) through advice or direct care.
21. Train and support new reception staff in reception duties and tasks.
22. Oversee reception staff annual leave ensuring that there is no clash and cut-off dates are maintained.
23. Restock all the clinical rooms and the necessary places.
24. Complete daily urgent tasks as set by the Clinicians.
25. Any other duties as may be required by the Partners and the Practice manager.
