442 Design is seeking a mid to senior weight interior designer to join its team in Edinburgh, Scotland.
442 specialises in retail and hospitality interior projects across all sectors but mainly sports stadia and venues. We work from a strategic starting point across feasibility, concept, and delivery of projects with varying scales and budgets. Our project work is both UK and International.
The successful candidate will be creative, enthusiastic, and passionate about exceptional design. They will play a key role within the retail & hospitality interiors team, working closely with the in-house graphics team. Willingness to grow, learn and develop will be key for this role and being a strong team player will be essential.
Candidates should have degree-level qualifications in design, with six plus years’ experience of working on retail and hospitality projects. The successful candidate must be able to manage a varying workload across multiple projects to meet client deadlines, have strong knowledge of design trends and cultural references. Communication is key and the role requires fluent spoken and written English.
Key responsibilities:
* Knowledgeable, creative approach to all design projects
* Create mood boards and 2D/3D design presentations, assist in the development of concept proposals
* Project design experience from concept to delivery with a problem-solving mindset and collaboration capabilities
* Attend site and client meetings as appropriate
* Detailed working drawings (Plans, elevations, ceiling and lighting plans, joinery details) and specifications (finishes and furniture) with the support of the project team
* Manage a varying workload across various clients to meet deadlines and first-class expectations
* Contribute to the development of the 442 design interiors team within the practice
* Work closely with the project team and report to the design director
Skills and experience:
* A degree in interior design or interior architecture
* Six plus years’ experience of working on Retail and Hospitality projects in the UK (previous creative roll-out experience is beneficial)
* Experience of Vectorworks design software
* Knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign
* Proficient 3D skills using SketchUp – to create visuals & fly-throughs
* Skills in render software like Enscape is ideal but not essential
* Great current knowledge of FF&E sourcing
* Excellent communication and presentation skills
* Good conceptual abilities and freehand drawing skills (not essential)
* Self-management and proactive thinking
* Demonstrate a full understanding of project processes from concept and design development through to site implementation
* Proven experience working with fabricators, specialist suppliers and manufacturers to design and procure bespoke products and finishes
* Working knowledge of UK building regulations, British Standards and other relevant statutory legislation
* Proactive, can-do attitude with a willingness to go the extra mile where necessary
