The Department: The IT department currently comprises 6 staff that are responsible for the provision and support of IT at our offices in London. We have adopted a hybrid working policy post-Covid-19, meaning that while our primary office hours are 9.15am - 5.30pm, our staff are able to work flexibly with the caveat that they must be available across "core" hours of 10am till 4pm. Peak demand for IT is across these core hours, with the need be able to be provide support from 7.30am till 6.30pm and potentially some emergency out of hours or weekend cover at peak times. We are flexible in our approach and thus offer some work from home/overtime capacity (on an approval basis), working 37.5 hours across the week with at least 2 days in the office. The Role: We are looking for a junior-level IT Support Professional to join the team. The userbase within HWF comprises up to 350 (peak) users across several service line focussed departments. Users are either office based, home based or access our systems from one of our offshore partners. We utilise virtually every aspect of IT in some capacity and can thus offer the successful candidate the opportunity to learn these technologies once they are proficient at supporting the day-to-day activities of our users. While no one specific experience is required, candidates with any experience/interest in the some of the following areas will be at an advantage: Citrix Administration Office 365 admin. MS Teams MS SharePoint (Office 365) MS Azure Admin General Windows OS Support / Admin General Windows Application Support Basic Windows Hardware Setup / Provision The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain experience in a wide range of core IT technologies and related business deliverables. Starting by assisting with the provision of front-line support for user issues covering the Firm’s standard hardware, the successful candidate will be able to develop their career by gaining experience in any relevant area of IT that has a business use within the firm. HW Fisher have recently joined the Sumer Group of Professional Service firms, meaning over time the successful candidate will experience working in a 2000 user Private Equity backed firm. Duties & Responsibilities: The responsibilities of the role include the following: Assisting with front line IT Support across a range of desktop infrastructure and applications. Logging error notifications and providing an appropriate response based on priorities. Assisting in diagnosing and repairing faults, providing basic hardware maintenance of servers, PC’s and printers etc., and dealing with third party support providers as required. Supporting e-mail, Intranet and other information systems. Assisting with the identification and remediation of IT Security related risks and vulnerabilities. In addition, the IT team provide support for: MS Windows 11 desktops and Windows 2012/2016 servers Citrix/XenApp presentation server VMware based Virtual server infrastructures MS Office 365 tools such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint etc. Specific professional applications including CCH AP, Digita Personal Tax, Sage Accounts, ProAudit and other SQL based systems. Office 365 Email Mimecast for web filtering / email security Hardware configuration and set up based on organisational standards. Network support and maintenance. Mobile devices such as smart phones and iPad device set up and support. Endpoint management tools such as Dato Therefore, any experience/interest in the above will be beneficial, including within a school or college setting. The Candidate: The successful candidate will either have recently started a 1st line support (or similar) role or have recently left suitable education to begin their IT career. No specific IT qualifications are necessary; however, we would expect a suitable educational background relevant to where the individual is in their career/education. This could include Computing A-Levels or a relevant college course, or perhaps an IT related degree or relevant qualifications from a technical college. The candidate should be able to demonstrate sound problem-solving skills and thinking, as troubleshooting issues is a key aspect of the role. The candidate must possess good interpersonal skills and be comfortable dealing with users of all levels of ability across the Firm. We are looking for someone who is mature in their approach to work and passionate about developing their skills to follow a rewarding career in IT.
