The role is offered on a hybrid basis. The Role Due to current business growth, Wood is looking for a Health, Safety, Security & Environmental Manager to support our Process & Energy Service Line across the UK. Working with the Portfolio Operations Director, this role will ensure effective HSSE management across the portfolio of responsibility providing support across the full contract lifecycle from Business Development through to Execution. With the ultimate aim of keeping our people safe and secure along with protecting the environment, this role will provide timely advice and guidance on legislation, policy, management systems and client requirements allowing the candidate to use their knowledge and experience in ensuring risk is managed and opportunities captured. The role will also functionally report into the Senior HSSE Manager and will ‘line manage’ an existing HSSE Team. The successful candidate will have some autonomy to use their knowledge and experience in shaping the approach to meet business needs. To integrate HSSE across the portfolio and foster a strong safety culture. Ensure contracts / locations within portfolio are effectively planned and executed with up-to-date risk registers and HSSE Plans maintained. Create, maintain and support delivery of an annual HSSE improvement plan within portfolio of responsibility. To ensure compliance with legal and other requirements including compliance with agreed CDM duties. To recruit, lead and develop a HSSE team that efficiently meets the needs of the portfolio and drives best practice. Establish productive relationships with client peers ensuring periodic engagement to ensure cohesive HSSE delivery. Ensure external certifications remain operational within portfolio of responsibility and that external surveillance is effectively accommodated. To effectively participate in the Service Line audit program ensuring a risk-based approach aligned with company policy. To ensure suppliers and contractors within portfolio are effectively evaluated and managed as per company policy. Assist the Senior HSSE Manager in providing input into tenders. Promote HSSE best practices on contracts / projects and offices within portfolio of responsibility. Provide support to the Business Development team ensuring our HSSE capability is adequately integrated into the Sales process. Support internal and external HSE presentation needs. Provide cross business / pan-EMEA support as required. Ensure all key HSSE documents are created and maintained to facilitate effective work delivery. Ensure effective investigations are undertaken in a timely manner and learning shared. Actively promote safety initiatives such as Shield, Life Saving Rule and HEART etc. Promote and reward desirable safety engagement and performance. Create and monitor Emergency Response and Business Continuity Plans Deputise for the Senior HSSE Manager as required. Qualifications Qualifications NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent (essential) Trained and competent Internal Auditor (essential) RCA – Accident/incident Investigator Training, e.g. 5 Why / Helix / Taproot (essential) Membership of a recognised HSSE related institute i.e. IOSH, MIIRSM, IEMA etc (essential) ONC/HNC or equivalent in Technical, HSEQ or related industry (desirable) Knowledge, Skills & Experience HSE experience, preferably with some exposure to roles with supporting multi contract/location portfolios. Some experience practicing HSSE in the Oil & Gas or similar high hazard sector is preferred. Knowledge of HSSE standards and legal requirements. Experience of working with Quality and HSSE Management Systems. Experience leading a team is required. Proficient in the use of Microsoft office. Excellent planning and organisational skills.
