Historic Royal Palaces is a team of people who love and look after six of the most wonderful palaces in the world and their magnificent historical gardens.
We are recruiting for a Building Services Engineering Apprentice at HM Tower of London, giving you a fantastic opportunity to grow and develop your skills whilst working at this historical site.
You’ll be part of a busy maintenance service team, providing assistance in respect to the upkeep and continuity to all aspects of the M&E systems, plant and equipment of the palaces. Support with rectifying faults, monitoring works, liaising with other internal departments and supporting a variety of administrative and technical engineering requirements.
Whilst studying towards your apprenticeship you will also be:
1. Assisting in the assessment of M&E failures and faults.
2. Supporting the M&E Contracts Manager in sourcing plant and equipment for M&E maintenance work.
3. Liaising with contractors and obtaining quotations for repair works.
4. Assisting with the provision and monitoring of the PPM programme.
5. Assisting in the preparation of building service schedules.
6. Categorising and updating M&E drawings and CAD plans.
7. Supporting in the formulation of maintenance policy, health & safety and quality assurance.
8. Carrying out general maintenance related administrative tasks.
9. Familiarising, use and updating data/PPM’s to our maintenance software system.
10. Supporting sustainability initiatives in respect of M&E systems.
11. Liaising with internal departments and stakeholders.
12. Undertaking any other relevant activities which fall under the general scope of this role as directed by the Line Manager.
We are looking for someone who is keen to learn and has good attention to details, strong computer skills (use of CAD would be desirable) You will also need good communication skills and the ability to manage your time and workload.
More than anything we are looking for potential, but, as this Apprenticeship starts at level 3 we do have a few eligibility requirements:
13. You must be 18 years old or over on 2nd September 2025.
14. Live in UK (resident in country role is based).
15. You must not have completed a degree or equivalent level qualification in the UK or elsewhere and not already be in full-time education.
16. Five GCSEs at grade C (or 4) or above, including English, science/engineering and mathematics (or equivalent)
