A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nurse with an interest in Women's Health to join our friendly team here at the Gynaecology Outpatients Department at the Royal Derby Hospital.
We are looking for a qualified nurse with enthusiasm for excellent patient care and someone who has a desire to work in women's health and make a difference. Previous experience in an outpatient setting is desirable. We pride ourselves in delivering safe, high-quality care to ensure the patient's experience is a positive one.
Candidates must have knowledge of outpatient gynaecology including colposcopy, fertility, and hysteroscopy; previous gynaecological experience is desirable.
The post holder will practice autonomously and be responsible and accountable for safe, compassionate, person-centred evidence-based nursing that respects and maintains dignity and human rights. They will be responsible for the assessment of care needs of patients, planning programmes of care, implementation, and the evaluation of these programmes without direct supervision. At times they will have management responsibility for being in charge of the department and supervising junior members of staff.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will practice in a holistic, non-judgmental, caring, and compassionate manner that avoids assumptions, supports social inclusion, and recognises and respects individual choice and acknowledges diversity. They will work in partnership with other health and social care professionals, students and trainees, and agencies, service users, their carers, and families. The post holder will contribute to the practice development within their clinical care setting and work in accordance with Trust Policies, Procedures, and Guidelines and will be responsible for completing any work-based training associated with the role.
You will liaise closely with the senior team to ensure efficient and effective bi-directional communication, in order to deliver a high-quality service to the patient and their relatives. You will also contribute to the professional development of junior staff within the department and enhance their skills as a role model.
The post holder will work according to the NMC Code of Professional Standards of Practice and Behaviour and relevant professional guidelines and be accountable for their own professional actions.
We work a variety of week day hours depending on clinical activity.
