We are actively seeking dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistants to meet the growing demand for supply staff. Role Overview: As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting individual students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Your work will directly contribute to creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.
Location: Evesham (on-site)
Contract type: Temporary, Full-time or part-time, flexible daily availability depending on your needs
Essential Requirements:
1. Previous Experience: At least 40 days of experience as Teaching Assistant or equivalent.
2. Passion: Genuine interest in working with children with Special Educational Needs.
Responsibilities:
1. Classroom Preparation: Set up classrooms before lessons and maintain a safe, clean environment.
2. Personalized Support: Provide 1:1 care to students with SEN, including those with physical or mental impairments, learning difficulties (e.g., dyslexia), ADHD, or ASD.
3. Collaboration: Assist teachers in preparing lesson materials and managing school equipment.
4. Progress Tracking: Record and report students’ progress to the teacher.
5. Focus and Behaviour: Help students stay focused during class hours and support teachers in managing student behaviour.
6. Core Skills Development: Work with students to improve core skills such as reading and writing.
7. Well-Being: Look after and manage students who may be unwell or upset.
Skills and Competencies:
1. Understanding of SEN: Familiarity with various special educational needs.
2. Guidance and Articulate Communication: Ability to guide and support children aged 5-11, communicate clearly, and build positive relationships.
3. Creating an Inclusive Environment: Create an encouraging and appropriate learning environment for students with SEN.
4. Empathy and Sensitivity: Show empathy, understanding, and encouragement toward students’ needs.
5. Tech Proficiency: Comfortable using computers and handheld devices.
6. Resilience: Respond calmly and constructively under stress.
7. Flexibility: Adapt to varying classroom situations and individual needs.
Desired Qualifications (not essential):
1. Bachelor’s Degree: In Education or a related field.
2. Level 2 or 3 Certificate: Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or similar.
3. Level 3 Diploma: Childcare and Education or similar.
4. T Level: Education and Early Years or similar.
