Job Overview
As a senior employee of the Health Board the post holder will work in close co-operation with, and support other clinical, medical professional and managerial colleagues in providing high quality healthcare to the Health Board’s patients.
This locum consultant post in Medicine at YYF will have the opportunity to work on a sub-acute medicine ward, alongside another consultant and provide acute medicine sessions in the Medical Assessment Unit one day a week. We have ensured a work life balance with one uncontracted day and the on call rota for consultants is a 1 in 12 which is equally shared between you and your colleagues.
Main duties of the job
The locum consultant post will be part of the Acute Medicine Service for the Borough of Caerphilly incorporating:
* Development and clinical delivery of comprehensive geriatric services at YYF
* Support the running of the Medical Assessment Unit and participate in the Adult Medicine take 7 days a week
* Based in MAU – one day a week (2 sessions) (8.00 am to 4.00 pm) depending on the other consultant sessions (Monday to Friday) and out of hours (Monday to Sunday, will be working as pro-rota with all other weekend AM and PM session one in 12 pro-rota basis.
* Hospital based care of sub acute, elderly, sub acute stroke and rehabilitation services when on-call
* Support and training of medical staff, nurses and other members of the MDT
* Provide effective leadership to multidisciplinary staff members
* Develop teaching and research with the organisation

* To ensure the provision of a first class clinical service
* To provide effective leadership to all staff engaged in the specialty
* To sustain and develop teaching and research wherever appropriate
* To undertake all work in accordance with the Health Board’s procedures and operating policies
