We are seeking an experienced Consultant Adult Psychiatrist to lead a dedicated team for a private client in Harrow, Greater London. What will your responsibilities be?
In this role, you will collaborate with clinical colleagues and managers to develop a comprehensive treatment service, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based responses to mental health issues. You will provide psychiatric care advice, taking responsibility for a defined caseload of patients. Working closely with the multidisciplinary team, you will foster positive relationships with the Medical Director, Hospital Director, Clinical Services Manager, and external stakeholders. You will oversee the performance of Consultant Psychiatrists, supporting appraisal and revalidation processes, and addressing conduct or performance concerns. Additionally, you will maintain professional leadership, offer clinical supervision and mentorship, and support the Responsible Officer in appraisal and revalidation. Representing the business externally, you will build relationships with commissioners and key partners. You will participate in an out-of-hours rota, ensure adequate consultant cover, engage in quality enhancement projects, and undertake relevant research. Furthermore, you will lead educational and health promotion activities, liaise with General Practitioners, lead the CPD programme, and provide medical input on initiatives such as NICE recommendations and external investigations.
Qualifications and Experiences:
1. Approved Clinician status
2. Section 12(2) approved
3. A member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) and in good CPD standing with same
4. GMC registered
5. At least five years’ experience in in-patient setting
6. Experience of working in a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit
7. Experience of working in Acute Services (Male or Female)
8. Ability to take independent clinical decisions and demonstrate clinical leadership
9. Knowledge of evidence-based practice
10. In-depth knowledge of MHA and MCA
11. Effective communication skills – verbal and written
12. Up to date with current practices in in-patient Psychiatry
13. Able to organise oneself and prioritise clinical need
14. Evidence of participation in audit
