Health and Safety Specialist! (MUST hold a COMAH qualification)

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000

About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Health and Safety Specialist to join our dynamic team in Derby. In this role, you will:
1. Regulatory Communication: Act as a liaison with regulatory offices such as the Local Authority (LA) and Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
2. Expert Advisory: Serve as the go-to expert on H&S compliance issues and consultant/subcontractor liability.
3. Training and Development: Identify H&S training needs and coordinate programs to enhance safe practices and reinforce our HSE culture.
4. Assessment Leadership: Lead COSHH Assessment, Safety Assessment, and Risk Assessment activities, including HAZID, HAZOP, etc.
5. Waste Management: Support the safe disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials and manage explosive licensing requirements.
6. Incident Investigation: Lead incident investigations, providing comprehensive reports and corrective action plans.
7. Compliance Knowledge: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HSE regulatory requirements and ensure continuous professional development (CPD).
8. Safety Culture Promotion: Collaborate with the Group HSE Manager, Site MD, and Site HSE Manager to foster a strong safety culture.
9. Representation and Reporting: Represent the HSE department in meetings and audits, and deputize for the HSE Manager when needed.
10. Analytical Reporting: Prepare HSE analytical statistics and regular health and safety reports, offering insights and recommendations.
11. Waste Stream Management: Manage both conventional and pyrotechnic/explosives waste streams, ensuring compliant disposal and record-keeping.

1. Strong communication skills to interact effectively with regulatory bodies and internal teams.
2. Expertise in H&S training and the ability to design impactful training programs.
3. Proven leadership in conducting assessments and managing risk.
4. Experience in waste management and compliance with disposal regulations.
5. A proactive approach to incident investigation and reporting.
6. A solid understanding of HSE regulatory requirements and a commitment to CPD.
7. The ability to foster a positive safety culture and engage employees at all levels.
8. Analytical skills to prepare detailed reports and provide actionable insights.
