Job responsibilities
JOB PURPOSE
As a Registered Nurse you'll work as part of an integrated multidisciplinary team delivering high quality care to patients referred to St Catherine's Hospice, and their families. Providing practical interventions you will direct and work along side Nursing Assistants, Student Nurses and Volunteers
In conjunction with the multi professional team, you will lead and participate in planning timely and effective patient centred care. This will include working in partnership with other health care professionals and rotation to both day and night shifts.
This nursing role demands sound, evidenced based clinical knowledge of end of life care plus clear and effective communication skills. You'll participate in the hospice's learning and development and governance programmes in collaboration with other members of the team.
You'll have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Using team work and cooperation, you'll contribute to a positive, supportive and professional working environment.

Qualifications
Essential
1. A good standard of Education, Minimum GCSE English & Maths or equivalent
2. Registered Nurse qualification
Desirable
3. Evidence of professional development in the speciality of palliative care
4. Diploma in Palliative Care/Oncology/Community or working towards
5. Mentorship qualification
6. Independent Prescriber

18. Drug calculation skills and awareness of the NMC Standards of Medicines Management

21. Organisation skills: to organise self and workload
22. IT skills and a willingness to undertake supportive training to use SystmOne - a computerised notes documentation system essential to the role
23. Up to date evidence of minimum level competency in: Communication, Clinical practice
24. Ability to direct /supervise nursing assistants, students and volunteers.
25. Ability to mentor junior team members/ teaching skills Ability to motivate others
26. Ability to operate in a multi-disciplinary environment
27. Ability to demonstrate awareness of national developments related to practice

28. Some post qualification experience (at least 3 months), general nursing experience
29. Previous palliative care experience

35. A knowledge of hospice and national initiatives relating to palliative care
