Business Case & Economics: Principal Consultant

As part of our business case and economics team, you will be joining a team providing advice to a wide range of clients across various transport modes and related challenges around economic performance, housing delivery, net-zero, and place. You will have an interest in developing and applying/overseeing economic techniques and analysis. This includes experience in developing business case analysis in line with the Department's Transport Analysis Guidance (TAG) and an understanding of wider economic impacts guidance. You will have experience leading the development of business cases and other related advice, reporting this to senior clients or officials.

Requirements
Experience/skills:
* Client and stakeholder liaison to understand requirements for the projects
* Provision of high-quality advice to clients
* Leading work streams within projects with supervision, ensuring that best practice techniques are applied consistently
* Preparing and presenting reports, proposals, and presentations
* Manage project budgets exercising effective financial and budgetary control
* Taking responsibility to specify economic analysis, interpret and review outputs, and convey findings tailored as appropriate to technical and non-technical audiences
* Contributing to the production and delivery of proposals related to our market area
* Assisting in general business development initiatives
* Taking part in training to develop both your technical and consultancy skills
To be successful in the role, you will:
* Be comfortable working in creative multi-disciplinary teams and provide positive contributions
* Demonstrate a strong track record in the field and transport economics and business case development
* Take responsibility for key tasks and workstreams, managing multiple deadlines in parallel
* Demonstrate strong analytical skills as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Proven project management/delivery experience in a transport environment

Compensation
Steer is committed to ensuring that all its employees are compensated a fair, livable wage. All initial compensation, regardless of location, may be subject to change as skills, abilities, internal equity, and geographic location are taken into account.
In addition to base salary, all employees will be eligible for an annual discretionary performance bonus. Please review the benefits section for more information on total reward.
Steer reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional compensation.
Work Environment
All Steer employees seeking a full-time opportunity are encouraged to spend 40% of their time either in office or on-site with clients. An employee's typical work week consists of 40 hours (Hours, expectations, and exemption status will be adjusted for any applicant seeking a part-time opportunity).
