What your role is
This role will accelerate business growth and protect our freedom to operate through health & nutrition leadership in the UK, supporting Europe and Australia through proactive support in the areas of nutrition science, health and wellness communication, external nutrition regulatory influence, and issues management.
This UK and EUAU Senior Nutrition Scientist will have overall accountability for specific product platforms within the Health and Nutrition Strategy for the UK, supporting Europe and Australia. This leader will proactively support an evolving Health and Nutrition arena by executing, communicating, implementing and contributing to build strategies that accelerate business growth and enhance the position of General Mills´ products and reputation.
The UK and EUAU Senior Nutrition Scientist should be knowledgeable in EU and UK food regulatory environment, health claims and other applicable regulations. This role will partner with their International nutrition teammates to support UK and EUAU nutrition priorities, as well collaborate with Bell Institute of Health and Nutrition teammates for corporate alignment and central resources.
The role will work with key external and internal stakeholders while aligning with GMI corporate and international priorities and positions. Specifically, this role will collaborate with cross-functional partners in International business, R&D, external relations, legal, labeling regulatory compliance. This role will represent General Mills with external UK stakeholders such as trade groups and scientific organizations. The Senior Nutrition Scientist for the UK will report directly to the International Nutrition Manager with significant partnership with the EUAU Associate ITQ Manager, EUAU business and technical teams.
Main Responsibilities
* Translate health and nutrition science into brand relevant opportunities that advance the EUAU business and provide competitive advantage, with focus on UK. Provide input and expertise for product formulations, communication initiatives and engagement opportunities as the main point of nutrition expertise across our UK, EU and Australia platforms, supporting other international markets, as needed.
* Support monitoring and management of nutrition pre-regulatory matters in the EUAU region. In close partnership with the regulatory teams in the UK and EU, monitor changes to the regulations and health policies. Coordinate with the right internal teams to propose science-based action plans to mitigate risks or if possible, find some competitive opportunities.
* Advance and communicate globally aligned, region nutrition positions and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders through proactive sharing of region perspectives and external landscape with focus on UK, as well as supporting other EU markets as needed.
* Execute and help facilitate region nutrition data tracking and external reporting and criteria.
* Provide region input into corporate nutrition data tracking and reporting to ensure global alignment and positioning.
What you will bring to the team
General Skills
* Able to translate and apply nutrition science and regulations into actionable opportunities, product guidance and/or external communications.
* Expert knowledge and understanding of European food regulatory environment and external context for food manufacturers, with experience in Front of Pack initiatives highly recommended.
* Able to synthesize large amounts of information into business-relevant insights.
* Effective project management skills, with a strong orientation to detail; proactive, autonomous, self-motivated and organized.

Technical Skills
* Demonstrated global knowledge in health & nutrition science, EUAU and UK nutrition regulations & claims.
* Fluent with MS-Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
* On-the-job training is provided for proprietary applications and tools.
* Language Skills: English and French (both, highly preferred).
Education/Experience
* Required: Advanced Degree in Nutrition, Food Science, health science or a related field. Working knowledge in Europe with strong UK nutrition regulations and regulatory framework. General knowledge of food industry, government and non-government agencies, health professionals and sponsoring organizations.
* Preferred: Registered Dietitian or Nutritionist credentials. Minimum 5 years of experience and proven track record in food industry nutrition experience. Related work experience, including nutrition science translation and communication, political and regulatory issues within region and globally, nutrition data tracking and reporting, and digital/social media communications (e.g. Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc).
