Job summary
The purpose of this role is to work within the NWNODN Education Team to:
1. Implement the NWNODN Education Strategy including the completion of the Education Toolkit
2. Support the delivery, evaluation and development of education programmes across the NWNODN
Main duties of the job
1. Be responsible for planning and delivering formal classroom and online teaching sessions and learning resources based on current evidence base
2. Be responsible for the maintenance of an appropriate learning environment, allowing all learners to optimise their professional development
3. Function as a senior clinical practitioner within the neonatal unit demonstrating advanced knowledge and clinical skills
4. Promote the objectives of the NWNODN
5. Be a highly motivated individual, demonstrating a flexible approach to meet the competing demands of the role
6. Be required to travel to all units in the NWNODN to promote education and training
7. Practice in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct in order that a safe and quality service is provided
8. Act as a role model in the clinical area teaching, assessing and supporting neonatal teams
9. Be responsible for the delivery of clinical expertise in all aspects of the clinical setting
10. Act as a resource of specialised knowledge and clinical expertise to ensure care delivered to the neonate and family is appropriate and optimum
11. Encourage and promote an evidence-based culture
12. Act as an advocate for babies and their families supporting the principle of Family Integrated Care

1. Ensure appropriate systems are in place to maintain accurate records
2. Assist in the development and evaluation of teaching programmes

5. In collaboration with NWNODN Team and hospital-based manager and educators deal appropriately with capability or professional issues
Planning and Organising Skills
1. Utilise specialist neonatal knowledge and experience in the development and delivery of education across the north-west
2. Work within the neonatal service Providers to support the planning and delivery Education across NW
3. Organise room booking/virtual delivery tools for learning as appropriate
Physical Skills
1. Standard keyboard skills
2. A high proportion of time will be office-based, using computer equipment
3. There will be a requirement to work to tight timescales and competing deadlines

8. Attend all mandatory training days as identified by the Trust or your seconding organisation

Responsibility for Information Resources
1. Report clinical and non-clinical incidents through the hospital reporting system

5. Identify and investigate problems and queries relating to collated data/information, taking appropriate action

2. Ensure an up-to-date knowledge of current evidence-based practice and implement research findings in teaching to ensure quality of service and effective practice

Person Specification
Education and Training
Essential
1. Registered Nurse/Midwife
2. Neonatal Qualification in Speciality
3. Mentorship qualification or equivalent
Desirable
1. A recognised teaching qualification or equivalent level of experience
Experience

1. Current evidence of mentoring within the clinical environment
2. Experience of multidisciplinary neonatal education and training
Knowledge

1. Extensive knowledge of specialist areas, acquired through post graduate nurse education or equivalent experience or training plus further specialist knowledge or experience to master's level equivalent
