Support Services: Floating Support Worker
We are currently recruiting for Floating Support Workers to join our Support Services Team in Belfast!
Hours of work for this role:
* 20 hours per week over 5 days per week across evenings Monday to Friday 5pm-9pm and alternating weekends (4 x hrs Saturday, 4 x hrs Sunday)
The successful candidate will work as part of a Support Services Team, delivering a high-quality, safe and effective service to help support unaccompanied and separated children who are in care or leaving care, living independently in the community.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
* Provide advice, including practical advice and support to Unaccompanied and Separated Children as agreed in the Support Plan and HSCT pathway/LAC plans.
* Offer support in the form of mentoring to and advocacy on behalf of the young person, where appropriate.
* Complete visits to the young person’s placement/accommodation, ensuring tenancy is maintained to a good standard and to support the young person to liaise with housing provider regarding any repairs or issues in the property.
* Participate in assessing the needs of young people leaving care in partnership with HSCT.
* Participate in reviews of support plan and the HSCT pathway plan/Looked After Children (LAC) reviews and request revisions to the plan where appropriate.
* Liaise with other professionals in the implementation of the support plan as required.
* Stay in touch with young people and keep informed about their progress and wellbeing.
* Support young peoples’ participation in support planning and help them to represent their own wishes and views.
* Maintain written records of contact with young people in accordance with the Tarasis policy and procedures.
* Participate in team meetings, regular supervision meetings and recognised training opportunities as agreed with the line manager.
* Contribute to the development and review of the Unaccompanied and Separated Children service.
* Develop and promote effective working relationships and links with other agencies and resources namely Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, Independent Guardian Service, Accommodation Providers, Northern Ireland Housing Executive, Education and Health care services.

* As a NISCC registrant, work to the Standards of Conduct and Practice which are binding on all social care practitioners.
* Comply with Tarasis and NISCC Codes of Conduct.
What we need from you:
* Minimum of two years’ direct and recent experience of Floating Support with young people or adults, on an individual basis either in a paid or voluntary capacity.
* GCSE Maths and English Grade C or equivalent.
* Flexible and able to work unsociable hours, at times.
* Able to demonstrate an understanding of the challenges facing unaccompanied and separated young people today.
* Able to demonstrate an understanding of the issues facing young people leaving care, for example, separation, loss, loneliness, independent living, etc.
* Ability to listen to and respond appropriately and sensitively to the wishes and feelings of young people.
* Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with young people, carers, families, and other agencies.
* Able to demonstrate an ability to work on own initiative and/or as part of a team.
* Ability to make effective use of supervision and training and to access support and advice as required.
* Empathy with young people.
* Full driving licence and access to a car.
