SUBJECT : ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL - UNION HILL SCHOOL
ANTICIPATED START DATE : AUGUST 2024
REPORTS TO : BUILDING PRINCIPAL
This position is accountable for assisting the principal with the administration and the efficient operation of all aspects of the elementary school facility consistent with sound educational principles and philosophy of education which strongly emphasizes student learning and success. This individual is responsible for assuming total responsibility in the absence of the principal. The assistant principal will contribute to the evaluation process of all staff.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES :
1. Responsible for supporting and monitoring staff to use effective classroom techniques which enhance the learning process.
2. Responsible for supporting and monitoring staff to use techniques which test / confirm individual student strengths and weaknesses, including referral for services when appropriate.
3. Responsible for supporting and monitoring staff to use effective techniques of classroom management / discipline and behavior.
4. Responsible for supporting and monitoring staff in the organizing, directing and implementing of educational programs which result in an atmosphere conducive to positive learning.
5. Responsible for assisting in the professional development and evaluation of building personnel.
6. Responsible for implementing / expanding community involvement that would serve to expand, enhance, and enrich the educational environment.
7. Responsible for assisting in the development of the school’s budget proposals.
8. Responsible for assisting the principal in organizing and running the school council.

10. Performance of other job-related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :
1. Licensure as an Elementary School Principal / Assistant Principal PreK-6 from the Massachusetts Department of Education
2. A minimum of a Master’s Degree in an appropriate field.
3. A minimum of three years teaching experience.
4. Working knowledge of Massachusetts public education, administration / supervision, and curriculum development.
5. Strong written and verbal skills for communicating with parents, students, teachers, administrators, community representatives, and School Committee.
6. Knowledgeable of budget preparation and line-item expenditure process.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
1. Ability to speak Spanish, Vietnamese, Albanian, Portuguese or an African language
2. Demonstrated experience supporting students with special needs
3. Demonstrated experience with second language acquisition
SALARY : Based on the Appropriate Lane and Step on the Non Teaching Elementary Assistant Principals Salary Schedule
