Buxton Nursery Ltd are looking to employ a happy, smiley and hardworking individual who is committed and passionate about supporting and supervising babies and children. Skills required include; excellent communication skills, working as part of a team, having good use of initiative, being emphatic and understanding. The suitable candidate will need to complete a variety of training relevant to the post including first aid, safeguarding and food hygiene to name a few. The suitable candidate will require an enhanced DBS check. Buxton Nursery Ltd are committed to promoting the welfare of children and all staff have a duty of care to understand and follow our child protection and safeguarding policies and procedures. This position is annual and the successful candidate must be able to work all year round bar the closure at Christmas and bank holidays. A level 3 qualification is essential. A full clean driving license is desirable.
Post objective - To provide nursery care and education for children 3 months to 5 years.
1/ To provide nursery care for all children within the nursery 3months -5 years. To ensure that all children’s needs are met in a caring and understanding way. To act as key person for a smaller group of children.
2/ To effectively and enthusiastically carry out all duties.
3/ To work closely with all other team members, participating in team planning meetings, group discussion etc. To liaise with all members of staff at Buxton Infant School so the nursery can build good relations with all staff and ensure the smooth running of the nursery on the school premises.
4/ To plan organise and implement a wide variety of activities suitable for the ages 3 months -5 years. To assist in meeting the needs of a child through planning programmes of learning to assist a child in specific areas.
5/ To assist with keeping development records for the children through the assessment of work and observation of the children. To draw attention to the supervisor any specific needs or concerns arising from the above.
6/ To maintain confidentiality at all times in relation to all aspects of care of the children both inside and outside the nursery.
7/ To assist in the cleanliness and good repair of the nursery and it’s equipment.
8/ To prepare and provide simple snacks for the children.
9/ To be aware of nursery policies and procedures and to ensure these are complied with at all times. To keep up-to-date with the nursery’s Health and Safety policies and to perform duties in accordance to these.
10/ To actively and positively promote the nursery’s policy on Equality of Opportunity. To be a positive role model for the children.
11/ To assist in the training and supervision of students that are on placement at the nursery.
12/ To review and discuss personal training and to attend courses and training in relation to the job. All staff are required to attend in-house CPD training when available in addition to the core training required by Derbyshire County Council. These are;

13/ To work closely and to value input from parents in relation to their child and the nursery. To work with other adults to help meet the needs of the children and their families e.g. social worker or health worker.
14/ To attend and positively contribute to weekly team meetings. To attend staff meetings in your own time (2-3 times a year) and participate in them willingly (this time is paid for). To attend and help out at other events that benefit the nursery on a voluntary basis e.g. summer fair, carol concert.
15/ To undertake any other reasonable duty within the nursery setting in accordance with the level of responsibility of the job.
16/ To form good working relationships with school staff, respect the school buildings and property and not.
