The Role
We are seeking Senior Bridge Engineers to join our Bridges and Civils team within our Transportation Practice, based in Belfast. In this exciting position, you will collaborate on high-profile, multidisciplinary projects across Northern Ireland, Scotland, and the wider UK.
As part of our Belfast team, you'll engage in a variety of thrilling projects and frameworks, helping to drive innovation and excellence in our field. You will leverage your people, technical, and delivery skills to oversee the delivery of civil and structural design packages and projects, from new highway schemes to maintenance and assessments. Your responsibilities will include managing individual design packages and entire projects, ensuring they are delivered profitably, on time, and in alignment with our rigorous quality assurance standards.
What You Bring
We're looking for candidates with a strong background in civil engineering design and experience managing both single and multi-disciplinary projects within highway & Rail and local authority environments. Ideally, you'll be familiar with all project stages, from feasibility studies to detailed design.
Qualifications:
1. BEng/MEng or MSc degree in civil engineering or equivalent.
2. Chartered status and membership with the ICE, IStructE, or other recognized engineering bodies.
Expected Criteria:
The ideal candidate will balance relevant industry experience, technical expertise, and strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Key criteria include:
1. Proven experience working with key clients such as Local Authorities, DFI, Highways England, Translink, Network Rail, Developers, and major Contractors.
2. Ability to lead and support bids and tenders successfully.
3. Experience conducting technical reviews of designs.
4. Strong understanding of relevant design standards (e.g., Eurocodes, DMRB, MCHW, and those of National Highways and Network Rail).
5. Capacity to develop and agree on scopes, managing the internal technical supply chain, including budgets, timelines, and quality of deliverables.
6. Excellent project management skills, commercial awareness, and financial control across various contract types, alongside stakeholder management abilities (including specialist suppliers, independent checkers, and local authorities).
7. Proficiency in grillage, space frame, and finite element analysis software packages, such as LUSAS, MIDAS, SuperStress, and/or Autodesk Structural Bridge Design.
8. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of clients and colleagues across multiple engineering disciplines.
9. Experience in work-winning and developing client relationships.

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary, it will be discussed with you at interview. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require candidates to provide proof of residency in the UK of 5 years or longer.
