At Waters, you will play a crucial role in developing advanced FPGA solutions that power our state-of-the-art mass spectrometry instruments. Working within the engineering team, you will be responsible for developing new FPGA concepts and taking them forward through design, verification, and commercialisation. These solutions are critical in enabling our industry leading Mass Spectrometry products.
In return, we will provide intricate engineering work that is extremely interesting and technically challenging. Our focus is on the development, design and support of electronic, FPGA and embedded systems and sub-systems for our current and next generation Mass Spectrometers that are sustainable for the future.
Producing our products is a team effort and provides lots of variety, requiring us to collaborate with all disciplines involved in a product’s lifecycle. We are a supportive team with a wealth of experience and a focus on learning, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
You will be involved in the FPGA design and development activities in support of new and existing products. You will also be responsible for the test and integration of products. As one of our Lead Engineers you will also:
* Provide technical direction to other engineers, and support their further development as engineers
* Contribute to department/project design reviews to ensure we deliver innovative products
* Provide technical expertise in the initial lifecycle phases of projects such as requirements gathering/analysis and architectural design
* Support colleagues and other engineering teams in the integration of modules, subsystems and functions
* Aid subcontractors who support us in design work if required.
* Contribute to product quality and manufacturability by, on occasion, investigating concerns and implementing improvements.
* Work as part of a multi-disciplined team around the world which could involve occasional international travel.
Qualifications
What will make you a successful FPGA Engineer at Waters:
* A degree in electrical/electronic engineering with a background in electronics/FPGA design. (or equivalent combination of qualification and experience)
* Experience in the development of FPGA systems and subsystems in a full engineering lifecycle
* Experience and understanding of good design process and practice
* A flexible work ethic and enjoys working in a team environment
* Great communication skills and capable of contributing positively to multidisciplinary teams
Desirable but not Essential:
* Experience with Intel and Xilinx toolsets and devices
