About Us
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and adaptable individual to take on the dual role of Exams Support Lead and Cover Supervisor. This unique position combines administrative support for the smooth running of the school’s examinations process with classroom supervision during teacher absences.
Nature and Scope
In your role as Exams Support Lead you will play an integral role within the examinations team, contributing to the organisation and delivery of a well-run exams programme. You will assist with a range of responsibilities, including managing entries, organising venues and resources, coordinating invigilators, and maintaining compliance with examination regulations.
In your role as Cover Supervisor, you will manage classrooms during teacher absences, ensuring students remain focused on pre-set work across a variety of subjects. This requires strong communication skills, confidence, and adaptability to engage and motivate students effectively.
The successful candidate will be proactive, organised, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in IT and a willingness to learn new systems are essential. Flexibility and a genuine interest in supporting young people are essential. Previous experience in an educational setting is desirable but not required, as full training will be provided.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Support with organising internal exam timetables, including mock exams (Years 10-13).
2. Assist with preparing venues for exams, including seating plans, labels, and liaising with the site team.
3. Support the arrangement and coordination of invigilators’ timetables.
4. Help train invigilators as required.
5. Assist with entering students for GCSE and A-Level examinations (and equivalent courses).
6. Ensure compliance with JCQ regulations when dealing with exam papers, working to a high degree of accuracy.
7. Support the secure upload of coursework.
8. Support with resolving exam clashes in accordance with JCQ regulations.
9. Support emergency access arrangements as needed.
10. Be available to support on results days, including distributing results and assisting with post-results services.
11. Set up and manage computer equipment for exams access arrangements, such as computer reading software.
12. Invigilate exams when required.
13. Provide administrative support as required to ensure the smooth operation of the exams process.
Additional responsibilities include:
1. Acting as a contingency for the Exams Officer during absences, if required.
2. Undertaking any other duties as reasonably requested to ensure the effective delivery of the examinations programme.
3. Supervise whole classes during teacher absences, ensuring students remain on task with pre-prepared work.
4. Deliver lesson instructions confidently and ensure classroom discipline is maintained.
5. Assist students in completing assigned tasks, providing support as needed.
6. Manage a variety of subjects across different year groups, adapting to the needs of each class.
7. Undertake other tasks as required, including exam invigilation, updating displays, and supporting school activities.
