Role: Court of Protection Paralegal

Leading law firm looking to recruit dedicated Court of Protection Paralegal for highly sought permanent positon.

Court of Protection Background:
\n\n
Our client's Court of Protection deputyship team acts as professional deputy and trustee for clients who lack capacity to manage their finances. Their Head of department is recognised in the Legal 500 Chambers and Partners for the expertise in this area of law.
\n\n
They act for clients who lack capacity due to mental health issues, learning disability, addiction and other issues. They work closely with litigation teams to ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place when sending compensation to vulnerable clients.
\n\n
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
\n\n
\n\t
* Report directly to Department Director
\n\t
* Professional pro-active approach, strong client care skills and a sensitive and sympathetic understanding of clients’ needs
\n\t
* Assisting with Court of Protection applications such as to appoint a deputy, approval for a property purchase, family care payments or ACC approval, completing OPG reports, drafting PI and DPT trusts and preparing expert reports on likely deputyship costs
\n\t
* Attending clients, taking instructions and preparing cases
\n\t
* Dealing with correspondence
\n\t
* Maintaining accurate time costing procedures
\n\t
* Implementing any recommendations made by your supervisor following monthly file reviews ensuring that these are dealt with promptly
\n\t
* Ensuring compliance with file management.
\n

Key Skills Required
\n\n
\n\t
* A strong academic background with a Law degree
\n\t
* Legal experience as a Court of Protection Paralegal/Advisor
\n\t
* Clear understanding and application of Court of Protection
\n\t
* Business acumen and the ability to market the Company
\n\t
* Excellent communications skills to work effectively with all types of people
\n\t
* Excellent analytical and organisational skills and ability to use own initiative but know when to seek guidance
\n\t
* Committed team player, self -motivated and professional
\n\t
* Excellent IT Skills -familiar with Microsoft Office applications and document management skills
\n
\n\n
