This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Transformer Engineer to join an established family-owned business based in Leeds. The Role
Focused mainly on new transformer and package substation installation on-site including fitting, wiring and testing of both distribution and power transformers. Some prebuild work may also be undertaken at our Leeds facility as well as warranty investigation and rectification work on site and more routine equipment maintenance tasks.
Duties
1. Site-based and in-house pre-fitting and assembly of various types of distribution and power transformers and associated packages.
2. Prepare work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, pre-assembly images & parts lists, gathering parts, subassemblies, tools and materials.
3. Assemble components by examining connections for correct fit and fastening parts and subassemblies.
4. Travel to third-party sites both in the UK and Europe to build up the equipment and test.
5. Ensure that all equipment is assembled and tested to the highest standard.
6. Act as a customer-facing ambassador of Wilson Power Solutions whilst on site and deliver excellent customer service levels, even under pressure.
7. Use initiative in an environment with changing priorities whilst always focusing on completing a task safely.
8. Read and understand mechanical and schematic drawings.
9. Use general workshop machinery and hand tools related to the role.
10. Identify and work with colleagues to resolve site-related challenges.
11. Work unsociable hours when required to meet customer needs.
12. Keep up to date with legislative updates and communications.
13. Follow all reasonable requests by Management and Supervisors, to include duties not specified in this job description.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
1. Experience and competence of working on site fitting distribution and power transformers and associated packages is essential.
2. Hands-on experience of working within a mechanical/electrical engineering environment is essential.
3. The ability to understand mechanical and schematic drawings is essential.
4. Apprentice trained or a Mechanical/Electrical qualification is essential.
5. Experience of Health & Safety and conducting risk assessments is essential.
6. ECS accreditation is essential.
7. Full UK driving licence is essential.
8. Transformer full testing experience is desirable.
9. Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise with customers and resolve issues in a proactive and positive manner.
10. Strong troubleshooting skills.
11. Excellent attention to detail.
12. Flexible and adaptable, prepared to attend site at short notice which may be outside normal working hours.
13. Experience of working collaboratively with other operations personnel with the ability to train and enhance your work colleagues’ skills.
14. Ideally experience of working within a continuous improvement environment.
15. Ideally have up to date training on Overhead Crane/Slinging Lifting certification.
16. Ideally have a FLT licence.
17. Ideally IPAF certification.
