Role: General Catering Assistant
Location: Beechen Cliff/ Hayesfield Start Date: ASAP
Hours: 25 hours per week (9:00 am - 2:30 pm), Monday to Friday (Term Time + 1 Inset Day)
Salary: £12.45 - £12.65 per hour (Grade 1 SCP 3-4) FTE £24,027 - £24,404 actual salary £13,699 - £13,914.
Midsomer Norton Schools’ Partnership is looking for a General Catering Assistant to join our team, working across Haysfield and Beechen Cliff schools. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for food, great customer service skills, and the ability to work well in a busy, dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in preparing meals, sandwiches, salads, and simple sauces.
Operate kitchen equipment such as dishwashers, mixers, and slicers (once trained).
Set up and supervise the dining area, including managing queues and clearing tables.
Operate tills for cashless catering, free school meals, and staff duty meal processes.
Wash crockery, utensils, and kitchen equipment, ensuring food hygiene and safety standards.
Assist in providing catering services for school events, such as conferences and parents' evenings.
Ensure the kitchen and dining area are cleaned to a high standard, following health and safety regulations.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
A basic level of literacy and numeracy.
Valid Food Hygiene Certificate.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to work well in a team and respond to a busy environment.
A positive attitude towards working with children and young people
