Job Title: Teaching Assistant Location: Sunderland Contract Type: Long term Leader Education are recruiting a Teaching Assistant for a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) secondary school. The school supports students with Autism and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), so experience with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) is preferred. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working with SEND pupils and be comfortable providing 1:1 support. During its most recent Ofsted inspection, the school was rated 'Good,' with inspectors highlighting the safe, happy, and supportive environment that actively supports student development. The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:30 until 16:30 and is a long-term position. The successful candidate will: Have a fully enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one. Have experience working in a transferable role. Follow personalised curriculum's and care plans to meet pupil's requirements. Work with pupils on both a 1:1 basis and in group settings, communicating effectively. Participate in the planning and implementation of the curriculum through lesson planning and delivery. Set up lessons, equipment and activities within the classrooms.
