This is a fantastic opportunity to help shape and deliver a forward-thinking Payroll Service, with this role at the forefront of shaping service delivery. We are looking to recruit a highly effective, experienced, and motivated Payroll Manager to lead our large payroll team. This is a permanent post which will be focused on providing a professional end-to-end payroll function to Bradford Council and a variety of external customers through service level agreements.
You will be working closely with other teams within the Council, particularly IT and Finance on service development and organizational-wide projects, as well as with a large number of external customers including large multi-academy trusts to ensure high levels of service delivery.
We are looking for a candidate that has expert knowledge and experience of managing and delivering a payroll service with a key focus on customer service and business improvement and will have knowledge and appreciation of the pressures within the payroll industry and ideally (but not essential) within the local authorities and education field. Experience of SAP systems would also be advantageous.
Reporting to the Head of Workforce and Payroll, you will be a key member of the HR Advisory and HR Business Operations Management Team and wider HR Leadership Team. The post holder will have responsibility for leading the Payroll & Pension Liaison Service including management responsibility for a team of up to 50 staff.
The successful candidate will have a strong customer focus and will be able to work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues and key stakeholders across the Council, the wider District, and with relevant Central Government Agencies.
