We have an exciting new opportunity for a Band 6 Paediatric Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic and supportive team. Experience of working with children, young people and families with or without disabilities is desirable but not essential.
We will consider full time, part time and term time only hours.
This role is suited for an experienced band 6 occupational therapist or a band 5 looking for a new challenge and development opportunity.
You will deliver care to children aged 0-19 with a range of conditions including Cerebral Palsy, Autistic Spectrum Disorders and learning difficulties.
Working in the community means you will see children within a variety of settings, including nurseries, schools, homes and our newly established children's centre, where you will carry out essential duties within the occupational therapy process.
Interviews will be held in January 2025.
Main duties of the job
* Supporting children with higher levels of needs or complex backgrounds through either Health or SEN pathways
* Meeting with parents to address needs pre-referral
* Conducting standardized and non-standardized assessments for children and young persons, from early years to post 16
* Assessment, recommendation and provision of equipment for moderate to complex seating systems
* Working in partnership with mainstream school settings to provide staff consultation and training
* Individual therapy sessions at home and clinic to support self-care, routine and independent living skills
* Direct therapy interventions in the education environment to support engagement in school based occupations
* Being an active participant in the Occupational Therapy Helpline for Surrey by providing ad hoc telephone advice for professionals and families requiring OT support
There will also be opportunities to develop your supervision and innovation skills by taking on small development projects, training opportunities and working with students.

Job responsibilities
The post holder is responsible for autonomously managing a complex caseload of children with a range of varied and complex needs. This will involve specialist assessment and treatment of children with complex needs.
The post holder is responsible for devising child centred therapy plans using evidence based practice to ensure that the individual's full potential is developed or maintained. They will provide clinical support, training and supervision for junior staff and students.

Person Specification
Experience
* Two years post-graduate experience in OT.
* Previous therapy experience in the relevant clinical areas related to the post.
* Documented evidence of CPD.
* Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team.
* Ability to deliver training.
* Evidence of successful completion of specialist short courses relating to the post.
* Membership of relevant Special Interest Groups/Clinical excellence networks.
* Training relating to the line management and supervision of assistants and other therapists.
* Experience of training parents, other therapists and other professionals.
Skills
* Ability to work autonomously.
* Ability to reflect and critically appraise own performance in relation to current best practice and develop skills accordingly.
* Planning and decision making skills and problem solving.
* Computer and internet literate.
Knowledge

* BSc Hons or recognised degree equivalent qualification in Occupational Therapy.
