This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the specialist education provision available for young people in Dumfries and Galloway. This post is full-time (35 hours per week) and temporary with an end date of August 2025. Based in Nithsdale, you will teach in the Secondary Inclusion Team.
This position may be suitable for a Secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post on a secondment basis.
You will help to provide educational opportunities for young people. This will include both outreach work in mainstream schools and providing offsite education in the east of the region. You will also work closely with mainstream schools to help ensure young people at risk of exclusion are supported to remain in mainstream settings where possible.
This post forms part of Dumfries Learning Town schools and/or The Bridge to deliver courses as part of the BGE and /or senior phase curriculum as appropriate to meet the needs of our learners.
Applicants for teaching posts must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland, Clerwood House, 96 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh, EH12 6UT in the appropriate sector. You will preferably have additional qualifications in additional support needs. You will be positive, enthusiastic and encouraging.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
