Make UK Defence is the leading trade association for the UK defence supply chain, part of Make UK, the UK’s voice of manufacturing. We represent around 500 members, including global defence contractors, established mid-tier suppliers, and micro SMEs
We are seeking a strong relationship management professional to join us as a Strategic Partner Director. This newly created role will be instrumental in developing and expanding relationships with our strategic partners within the prime contractor and tier 1 supplier community in the defence sector.
Key Responsibilities:
* Cultivate and strengthen relationships with strategic partners to maximise mutual benefits for both partners and Make UK Defence.
* Engage with partners on a national level to ensure alignment with their priorities and full engagement with our initiatives.
* Identify and capitalise on opportunities for growth and collaboration with each strategic partner.
* Collaborate with the regional membership team to promote the strengths and values of the UK defence supply chain.
* Work closely with the key account team at Make UK to ensure a coherent strategy across both organizations.
Requirements:
* Extensive experience in the UK defence industry, with a solid understanding of the sector.
* Proven track record of account management with blue-chip customers, including C-suite engagement.
* Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to present persuasively to large audiences at events.
* Full UK driving license and willingness to travel regularly.
* Comfortable and effective in a remote working environment.
Desirable:
* Successful experience in business development within the defence sector.
* Familiarity with bidding in the public sector domain.
* Understanding of the trade association and membership organisation environment.
* Experience in organising and managing corporate events.
