Location: Exeter - Hybrid\nSalary: £55,000 - £70,000 DoE\n\n The Role\n\nA leading design-and-build consultancy is looking for a Principal Electrical Engineer to join a growing team delivering high-impact water and wastewater projects. With the company’s recent appointment to South West Water’s AMP8 framework, this role offers the chance to work on innovative schemes that enhance the resilience and sustainability of critical infrastructure for communities across the region.\n\n You’ll play a key role in shaping electrical design from feasibility through to commissioning, working collaboratively across disciplines to develop practical and future-focused solutions.\n\n Responsibilities \nLeading electrical engineering design across water and wastewater schemes \nProviding technical guidance to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations \nCollaborating with commercial, operational, and construction teams to deliver efficient and safe solutions \nActing as technical reviewer and design checker across multiple projects \nDriving innovation through standardisation, digital tools, and sustainable approaches \nLiaising with clients, stakeholders, and statutory authorities to maintain strong working relationships \nSupporting and mentoring junior engineers to grow technical capability within the team \nConducting site visits to assess constructability and integration with existing systems Requirements \nDegree in Electrical Engineering or a related field \nChartered Engineer (CEng) status with a recognised institution \nStrong technical background in delivering electrical designs in infrastructure projects \nProven ability to manage multiple projects to tight deadlines \nExcellent communication skills and stakeholder engagement experience \nA collaborative and pragmatic approach to problem-solving \nWillingness to travel to project sites across the South West What's in it for you? \nCompetitive salary (negotiable, based on experience) \nPension scheme with up to 7% employer match \nPrivate medical insurance, life assurance, and critical illness cover \n26 weeks enhanced maternity leave and family leave policies \n26 days annual leave plus options to buy/sell leave \nSupport for professional subscriptions and development \nCycle to work scheme, gym discounts, and other lifestyle benefits The Company\n\nYou’ll be joining a joint venture that combines engineering excellence with construction delivery.
