Job overview
The Sheffield Diabetic Eye Screening Service has an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and reliable individual to join their growing service. This position is pivotal in providing telephonic and administrative support to a city-wide service.
The successful candidate will be at the forefront of patient contact, using excellent communication and telephone skills to book appointments and deal with general enquiries for the service as well as providing data entry and general administrative support to maintain a quality experience for service users.
Main duties of the job
1. Deal with telephone and face-to-face enquiries and appointment bookings in a professional manner in accordance with local and national procedures.
2. Process referrals into the eye screening service and from the service to the hospital Ophthalmology department.
3. Liaise with colleagues to ensure full utilisation of all available screening and outpatient appointments.
4. Provide administrative support to the Engagement Lead to ensure projects and targeted clinics run smoothly and efficiently, including the contacting of patients and booking of appointments.
5. Utilise the OptoMize, Lorenzo and Medisoft software packages to check the patients care pathway.
6. Carry out other administrative tasks commensurate with the grade.
Person specification
Qualifications
* GCSE at Grade C in English and Maths (or equivalent qualifications) or equivalent experience
* NVQ Level II in Business Administration / Customer Service / IT
Experience
* Experience of working within an office environment
* Experience of working in a public facing role.
* Relevant experience within the NHS
Skills
* Understanding of data protection issues and the ability to maintain confidentiality
* Excellent communication skills, with ability to deal with staff at all levels.
* Displays use of initiative with effective organisational skills
* Ability to prioritise and work to strict/conflicting deadlines
* On-going commitment to personal development
Further Training
* Knowledge of / experience of using information and/or customer service systems.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages including Outlook, Excel and Word.
* Previous experience of Lorenzo / Infoflex / SystmOne (area specific software)
* Previous experience 59R Software
