The Sunderland Community Children and Young People's service is excited to share that we are looking for an exceptional practitioner who is dedicated to work with children and young people and keen to take up this brilliant opportunity of Primary Mental Health Specialist.
We are looking for an individual who has the ability to both deliver high quality interventions and develop the skills and knowledge of universal child practitioners in child and adolescent mental health.
Our Sunderland Community Children and Young People's service is a well-established innovative and creative targeted Getting Help children and young people's mental health service.
The skilled individual will join a multi-disciplinary team in the development and delivery of interventions that identify mental health difficulties at the earliest stage, and facilitate the provision of services that promote resilience, and enable positive mental health. The service is comprised of generic and specialist Workers.
You will be required to have sound knowledge and skills pertaining to children's mental health and have extensive knowledge and leadership skills and be able to work autonomously as a practitioner and collaboratively with colleagues across a wide range of professions and organisations.
Main Duties of the Job
The candidate needs to have an understanding of child and adolescent mental health, will work autonomously as a practitioner and collaboratively with colleagues across a wide range of professions and organisations. We would welcome applications from those who:
* Appropriate professional qualification in nursing, teaching, social work or allied health professions.
* Additional postgraduate qualification in Child and Adolescent Mental Health or other (CYP-IAPT recognised course).
* Significant experience of working to support the mental health needs of children, young people and families.
* Experience of working with children and young people within a multi-agency context.
* Specialist knowledge of child and adolescent mental health, normal development, developmental delay and developmental disorders.
* Ability to complete comprehensive mental health assessments and plan, implement and evaluate specialist packages of care.
* Skilled in the delivery of relevant therapeutic interventions including individual, family and group work.
* Ability to offer consultation and advice to a broad range of professionals.
* Ability to work at the complex interface between universal and specialist children's service provision.
The service is part of the well-established CYP-IAPT national programme as well as having a robust needs-led in-house training programme.

* To work as a member of the children and young people's Mental Health Team in Sunderland providing mental health interventions to children, young people and their families.
* Offer assessment and treatment of evidence-based, outcome-focused standards of care to children, young people and families and the delivery of high-quality training, consultation and support to other agencies.
* The service will be delivered from community bases as an integral part of an agreed model of multi-agency CYPMH provision.
* To lead, motivate and support the team through the provision of supervision and clinical expertise.
* To work alongside the Clinical Lead and Clinical Team Manager as part of the leadership team.

Qualifications
* Additional postgraduate qualification in Child and Adolescent Mental Health, therapeutic training or other relevant area.
* Teaching Qualification.
