To contribute towards the provision of a high quality Urology Service in conjunction with Clinical Nurse Specialists and the multi-disciplinary team. As a urology specialist nurse, the post holder will act as a resource to facilitate and coordinate the holistic care and treatment of patients referred to the urology service. The post holder will work within a multidisciplinary team of nurse, surgeon, radiologists, radiographers, oncologist and histopathologists. The most important role of the urology specialist nurse is to support, inform, advise and act as a patient advocate for individuals diagnosed with urological disease and their families under the supervision of the Clinical Nursing and Medical team. The post holder would be expected to undertake further qualifications and training to achieve the competencies required of a specialist urology nurse with potential of progressions to band 7. To work within the urology team providing clinical expertise ensuing high standards of nursing care and support, working in a complex multi-agency environment, adapting to the changing demands of a busy service. There is a requirement to use autonomous decision making skills on a regular basis and be able to cope with the psychological impact often on a daily basis, of supporting patients who are given a cancer diagnosis
