Falkirk Council Children’s Services has several opportunities for social workers to join our Children and Families Service. We are seeking applications from both experienced social workers and new qualified social workers to complete our teams.
Initial Response Team (IRT): IRT are the frontline response service for our Children and Families social work services. We screen all new referrals for unallocated cases to the service from our partner agencies and families. We are the link for all child protection referrals, National Transfer Scheme responsibility and initial assessment. Our specific role is to not only to screen but action initial response. We case hold for a maximum of 6 weeks to ensure that children’s plans are complete and identify next steps. The work is fast-paced, varied and rewarding. We meet families at points of crisis which can be challenging however with that comes opportunity to affect real change.
Locality Team: If your interest lies in working longer-term with families then our Locality Team have opportunities to support your career path undertaking all our longer-term child protection and statutory obligations including young people who may come into conflict with the law. Our locality teams work alongside our care experienced young people either supporting return home plans or securing better outcomes via permanency planning.

We would need you to:
* operate as part of a children and families social work service.
* Provide a range of social work services in line with the relevant legislation.
* Work in a mobile and flexible manner as part of a team.
* Work to meet deadlines.
* Use professional judgement and initiative.
* Share and analyse information in accordance with Data protection and child care legislation
* Adhere to the SSSC code of conduct.
It is essential that you hold a DipSw or equivalent social work qualification and are registered with the SSSC.
